Change

I woke up this morning in a lackluster state, both mentally and physically. Luckily Garance's (second) latest post was one of the first pieces of stimuli I digested (which I highly suggest - she always brings a smile to my groggy morning face). In said post, she displayed her DIY ankle cut jeans. Now I've had these raggedy Zara jeans in my closet for years, but they rarely make it out into the real world because of their awkward length, regardless of how well they fit my bum. Side note: why is it that denim designers make skinny jeans so damn long? I'm tall people, I can't even imagine what they look like on someone who's 5'5". Anyways, my scissors came out and my my mood was immediately lifted. Little things can make all the difference.

Additionally, Garance nailed my mental state on the head with her next post:

"I just want to say to everyone like me who chose slightly more complicated paths, the roads less traveled, the ones with lots of roadblocks and long stretches of anguish, I just want to say that the most important thing is to always be moving toward your desire. Just do the things that make you smile and you’ll always end up somewhere. Even if that place is not anywhere you’d imagined you’d be at the start."

Well thank you Garance, for making my morning unexpectedly wonderful. It's the little things.

Another side note: I bought this slouchy orange dolmen tee at H&M this morning. Perfect for the cold rainy night I'll be spending at Fenway this weekend. H&M's changing rooms are randomly amazing. They're clean, the lighting doesn't make you look 25 years older or 25 pounds chunkier and they're all equipped with movable double mirrors that can create every possible angle on your bod. See, the little things.

  1. There can be nothing more adorable than that last pic! Those little brogues are beautiful. I love the bold orange and blue with dustings of gold.
