Sample the Sale

In a budget-friendly effort to shop sample sales more (and curb my completely irrational retail hunger), I ordered this great little one-shouldered Black Halo romper from Gilt last week. I was shocked that A. it arrived two days after ordering and B. that it wasn't up-my-butt short (I have a long torso, a problem that usually prevents me from wearing rompers). This little number is so fun to accessorize and leaves endless possibilities, another friendly reminder that I need to invest in more neutral basics. Pair it with thick wool tights and it's ready for the here and now (this weekend).

In regards to sample sales, I've just discovered my friend Emily's useful blog: Sample the Sale. Not only does she dish about noteworthy sample sales happening around the city, she provides tips and advice on specific designers, the best days to go, what's worth splurging on, her triumphs and mistakes, etc. For more of her savvy shopping advice make sure to also check out the Categories section at her old blog location.
